10d Fails with Access Denied on an email that has non-printable characters ...
Have a friend who asked me if I've seen the following:
Error Section of Job Log:
V-79-57344-33928 - Access is denied.
Access denied to file William Reid [wreid]Top of Information StoreInbox“Find more candidates with the country’s largest legal job board.”.
Exceptions Section of Job Log:
The item \\SERVER\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes\William Reid [wreid]Top of Information StoreInbox〰〰〰〰慢㘳晦搱㉡搰㡡愴ㅢ㕥攱㤵㤰㍡〷改㜰〰㙥扤㙢㔰愸㙤ㄳ挴〹〱㍢㝤昸㈵戴㠸〰〰〰〰昴攳〰〰㙥扤㙢㔰愸㙤ㄳ挴〹〱㍢㝤昸㈵戴㠸〰〰〰㠶戵搱〰〰“Find more candidates with the country’s largest legal job board.” in use - skipped.
I suspect it's because of the characters in the subject line, but haven't found any knowledge base article on this. Can someone please confirm or point me to a possible cause.
Note: have looked at several articles on "Access Denied" but none seem to relate to this problem.
Thanks!

RE: 10d Fails with Access Denied on an email that has non-printa
IIRC the only way to avoid the error is to delete that EMail
If this response answers your concern, please mark it as a "solution"
We have done some work
We have done some work against newer versions of Backup Exec against issues of this nature as 10D is extremely old and not subject to any further development - it might therefore be worth you updating to at least 12.5 to see if this helps - you could test with a trail version - as long as you are aware that you'll have to put the newer version of RAWS on your Exchange server - and then take it back to 10D once you finish your tests - you should also run another full backup after you complete your test so that you have a current transaction logs set in your live backup system (as the test backup will affect your sequence otherwise)
Ken/Collin ... Thanks
Ken: Thanks, I figured that was the case ... checked with my friend and it appears that email was deleted, as no error was logged from last night.
Colin: Thanks ... I'm not sure if the email is still there in "deleted" ... if so, I'll let my friend know he can try 12.5 to see if it handles this message better.

S. Flores
