  • 1.  11.0.7 clients not taking definitions from the server

    Posted Nov 15, 2011 10:43 AM

    Hi Friends,

    We installed (on 14th Nov-2011)the SEPM 11.0.7 on Windows xp3 .

Creted groups and applied polocies and exported packages from the console. and installed in client machines

The client machines are not updating the definitions . and red circle is coming on the Icon. I tried to ping the Symantec server and telnet the port 8014 is working fine and client console , it is showing the IP Address of the machine and group properly.

The client machines are not updating the definitions(presently showing April 2011). and No error message

Please provide the solution as much as possible

    regards

    Santhosh

    Hello,

You have Installed Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager on XP SP3.

    Check this Article:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH91694

You are installing the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) on a Windows XP machine. Windows XP has a 10 concurrent connection limitation that has been built in by Microsoft. This guide contains the configuration changes that are necessary to work around this limitation. This is supported for up to 100 clients managed from a single XP SEPM

Could you please Let us know:

    1) If you have Restarted the machines after SEP got installed?

    2) What do you see if you open the SEP client, Click on Help and Support, Click on Troubleshooting. What do you see next to "Server"??

Suggestion: Please Check the Article above and work on the steps provided in the same.

    Hope that helps!!

    5. make sure you are able to ping liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com from sepm
    6. also make sure the zip folders for lu sepm are getting unzipped properly
    7. in case sepm is up to date then check the policy you have created kindly assign it to group in which clients are reported right click policy and assign

    Hi,

    Go to IIS server

    1) Right click on Symantec Webserver --> Properties --> Home Directory --> Under Home directory there is an option Execute permissions : change it to Scripts and executables.

    2) As you are using windows XP, don't keep all the clients under same group.

Create new groups if not present, move clients to different different groups.

    3) Change hear beat interval to 15 minutes, & keep 5 minutes difference in heartbeat interval for every group.

eg. Group A heartbeat interval 15 minutes, Group B heartbeat interval 20 minutes so on.
