1117 - I/O Error

Created: 05 Jan 2007 • Updated: 23 May 2010 | 2 comments

I have an issue on a 4 tape drive robot.

2 Drives connected to a backup server mount tapes and show as active but the jobs fail with 'Cannot connect on socket'.

The BPTM log show the error -

12:31:14.396 <4> write_data: WriteFile failed with: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. (1117); bytes written = 65536; size = 0

I don't think its a tape issue, any ideas?

The other 2 drives are connected to a Filer and keep being downed, i can see no reason for this at all.

All drives are on the same / latest firmware.

Mark,
Prove the drive pathnames and functionality is good at the operating system level before adding on the additional layer of NetBackup

VERITAS ain't it the truth?
