11.x > 12.1 Upgrade - Which Group locaion Wins? Local Package or SEPM?

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

Upgrade question.  I am creating a package that will place the client into a certain folder (tick box when exporting the client) and policy set - works perfect for new, fresh installs.

However, I am finding upgrades of existing v11 clients require me to manaully move the computer account to a different group!

I am playing with the smaller, 'basic content' package so understand as it will get policies after install based on its SEPM location, so that makes sense.

HOWEVER, If I use a Full package and new policy settings are installed with the package, which one wins?  Current SEPM groups and policies or local files?  Will full package  move it to new group or will it revert back to SEPM database?

Any options apart from move in SEPM or delete computers?

Thanks

The database will always trump the sylink on the client side in regards to what group to check into. If it is a small number of clients you can manually move them in the SEPM. If you are moving a lot of clients we have a utilited called moveclient that is located in the tools\nosupport folder of the downloaded SEP media.

If I was able to help resolve your issue please mark my post as solution.

full package or basic package will change the existing package set on the client if you select remove the existing policy, settings, logs .

you should also use the policy and the group the client should report to then client will be changed.

As Cameron suggested use the tool as needed.
