    Can you please have Symantec list down the server requirements for Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 Manager
     
    This is a centralized reporting server with more than 8000 clients for reporting and policy purposes and the server will also run SQL 2005 concurrently for the database. Please give us the following information urgently.
     
    ·         Speed of the processor
    ·         Number of processors required
    ·         Number of cores per processor
    ·         Recommended memory
    ·         HDD space for application
    ·         HDD space for database

    Hi,

    System prerequisite for SEP centralized architecture :

    SEP Manager (one SEPM/8000 clients) – 64 bit:

    – CPU: Dual Quad core processor (XEON), 3.0 GHz or higher
    – Physical Memory: 16 GB or higher
    – Disk and Storage:
    • 100 GB for C drive free disk space or more (2x 146 GB RAID 1 configurations for operating system partition)
    • 200 GB for D drive free disk space or more (RAID 1 + 0 for SQL database files)
    • 200 GB for E drive free disk space or more for SEPM.
    – Operation System: MS Windows Server 2003 / 2008 x64
    – Database software: MS SQL 2005 / 2008 x64

    Hi Sonday,

    System prerequisite for centralized reporting server with more than 8000 clients:

    SEPM/ Manager
    CPU: Minimum Dual core processor (XEON), 3.0 GHz or higher

    4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended) for 32-bit OS or higher if required by the operating system.
    8 GB of RAM minimum (16 GB recommended) for 64-bit OS or higher if required by the operating system.

    2x300 GB HDD RAID 1 configured
    (100 GB C Drive for operating system and 200 GB other drive for DataBase and SEPM.

    Operation System: Windows Server 2003/2008 (32/64 BIT)

    Database
    SQL Server 2000, SP4 or later
    SQL Server 2005, SP2 or later
    SQL Server 2008

    Network
    Machine should have Static IP Address which never been changed.

     

    SEP client System Requirement:

    512 MB RAM, (1 GB recommended)
    Minimum 1 GB Hard disk space
    Network interface card 10/100
    32-bit or 64-bit windows OS.

          • Windows Server 2003 (32-bit, 64-bit, R2, SP1 or later)
          • Windows Small Business Server 2003 (32-bit)
          • Windows Server 2008 (32-bit, 64-bit, R2, RTM, SP1, and SP2)
          • Windows Small Business Server 2008 (64-bit)
          • Windows Essential Business Server 2008 (64-bit)
          • Windows Small Business Server 2011 (64-bit).

    Processor:

    • 32-bit processor: 1-GHz Intel Pentium III or equivalent minimum (Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent recommended)

    The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager includes an embedded database, and this is the only choice in Small Business Edition. In the Enterprise version, you may use the embedded database or one of the following versions of Microsoft SQL Server:

                     • SQL Server 2008

    System prerequisite for SEPM server controlling more than 8000 - 10000 clients:

    SEPM/ Manager
    CPU: Minimum Dual core processor (XEON), 3.0 GHz or higher

    8 GB RAM (16 GB recommended) for 32-bit / 64 bit OS or higher if required by the operating system. (High RAM is required as SEPM and SQL are on same machine)

    1 TB HDD

    (200 GB C Drive for operating system and 200 GB other drive for Database and SEPM.

    Operation System: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard

     

    Database

    SQL Server 2005, SP2 or later
    SQL Server 2008

    Network
    Machine should have Static IP Address which never been changed.

     

    In your case, I would recommend few Dedicated Group Update Provider’s as well.
