    Hey all.

This is an unmanaged 32bit client (basic protection) install.

Have an older 2003 Server that was configured a while ago with a 8GB system partition.

I went to upgrade today and the live update failed.  On review, the logs were pointing to not enough room for the defs to update.

Right now that partition has 2.79GB free space (after removal) and I can't beleive that the app has grown such that it takes that much room.  I install the app to the 2nd partition as well so, what is taking up all that room are cached install .ZIP files (two for about 1/2GB worth) and the defs themselves.  I have three sets of these in there totaling about 2+GB.

I was looking at  this doc and it seems that I can change the location of the def files and that should help.  Scroll down to Elisha's post:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/ideas/change-sep-virus-defination-location

This doc details modifying DEFINITIONSROOT.  While I was in that hive, I also noted a key called APPDATA that pointed to c:\.... it sure would be nice if I could change that and then have all that stuff get pointed over to the partition that has the free space.

In the end, anything that someone can offer that will allow me to get 12.1.4MP1 client installed on this server would sure be appreciated.  I have done ALL the things I can do from the OS side to free up space including removing the $NTUninstall folders.....

    Thanks.

12.1 only keeps one content revision by default...perhaps the defs are corrupt.

May want to clear them out

SEP 12.1 version keeps only one set of definition. Can you reinstall SEP after uninstall?

    Thanks all.

I can reinstall and see.  The first downloads failed and that could be why there were so many revisions present.

Did you guys take a look at that Symantec doc?  Seems like that should work to change where the defs live?

    Hi,

850 MB of available hard disk space for the installation; additional space is required for content and logs
Note: Space requirements are based on NTFS file systems.

Total how much disk space used by SEP folders?

SEP 12.1 only keep the latest definitions. In SEP 11.x version it used to keep 3 revisions on local system.

    It seems definitions are corrupted.

    Refer this article:
