    Hi All,

I have a dilemma, what I want to achieve is assign 2 Anti-Virus Policys against one Host machine in this case a file server

1 Policy running daily and another to run 1 day during the week

To my understanding this is not possible is there any way I can achieve this

    Thanks

two AV policy cannot be applied to one machine , however if it changes location then different policy can be used.

However as per your requirement you want to run scan daily , is that correct? if thats the case you can have only 1 policy.

Yes that is right Pete it is a fixed machine a Server

What I want to achieve is:

scan daily - With some exclusions and tweaks

the other day of week - finish the scan with the omitted directory exclusions and file types not captured by the daily scan

So I guess it isn’t possible then, thanks for your help

you can configure custom scan which needs to be run daily, this has to be done on client machine. and one admin demand scan which can set to scan weekly. This will meet your requirement, isn't it?

its not policy, it will be only one AV policy.

To configure custom scan on client machine first

...multiple policies nor user-defined scans.  You can create and set multiple scan schedules within a single AV/AS policy as per my screenie smiley

Im not sure, i believe we cannot define specific paths like c:\test\ to be omitted from scan scheduled from SEPM.

Created a New Policy, setup two Scheduled Scans - edited the Schedule and included Exlusions

Switched Off Inhertance so I can assign the Policy to a Group Container holding the Individual Host

..., I missed the part about having exceptions in the daily scan but not in the weekly scan.

In that case I agree with Pete (Thumbs Up!) that you will need user-defined scan(s).

From the sounds of your requirements, the Daily Scan must be the user-defined one (created within the SEP Client) and must be configured using the 'Custom Scan' option.  This needs to then be set to scan everything you want to be scanned.

The Weekly scan can then be set either via policy or on the client (doesn't really matter) and set to scan the whole lot (Full Scan).

You need to be careful/avoid setting Exceptions or using the Centralised Exceptions policy, as these exceptions will apply to all scans (auto-protect, administrator defined scheduled scans by policy and user-defined scans).

If however, you want the exceptions to apply to all scans, then it sounds like you're already setup and ready to go with the multiple schedules in a single policy.

I hope this helps, please take a moment to mark any posts you find helpful with a "Thumbs Up", and flag whichever post solves your issue as the Solution.
