  • 1.  2 Tier Install of DLP 11.6 needs more than 2 servers?

    The information I have says:

    To implement the two-tier installation, you install the Oracle database
    and the Enforce Server on the same computer. You then install
    detection servers on separate computers.

    We plan to install the Enforce server and Oracle database on one server and install the rest on a second server.

    When I look at system requirements it lists Enforce Server, Network Monitor and then Network discover, Network prevent, Endpoint prevent with separate system requirements.

    This sounds like this requires more than 2 servers for a two-tier deployment.

     

    The software we have available to install is:

    DLP ENDPOINT PREVENT 11.6

    SYMC DLP NETWORK MONITOR AND NETWORK PREVENT FOR EMAIL 11.6

    ENDPOINT DISCOVER 11.6

    ORACLE STANDARD EDITION ONE FOR SYMC DLP 11.6

    This will be for around 300-400 users at most.  Does this require more than two physical servers?

    What kind of detection server you want to deploy?

    The number of physical servers depended on the number of your detection server.

    You need 1 server to install Oracle and Enforce server. Then, you need 1 server to host the Network Monitor. You can deploy Endpoint Prevent and Endpoint Discover server into 1 physical server. And, you still need 1 server to host the Network Prevent for Email.

    So, you will need 4 physical server to host all your available modules on your DLP license.

    I didn't see Network Discover itemized out in our software.  Is it a required piece to go with the DLP suite and does that require a 5th server?

    you may not have bought. If it was purchased yes 5th server would be needed. Also check the edited portion of my earlier post.

    1 server for DLP ENDPOINT PREVENT & Endpoint Discover 11.6

    1 server for SYMC DLP NETWORK MONITOR AND

    1 Server for NETWORK PREVENT FOR EMAIL 11.6

    1 server for Enforce & ORACLE STANDARD EDITION ONE FOR SYMC DLP 11.6 so it's 4.
