    Hello,

How do I know which version of the Endpoint software I need?  Through my university, I can purchase either the 32 or 64 bit version of the Symantec End Point 11 antivirus and antispyware software.  I have a Dell computer that runs on Vista.

    Thanks,

    JE

for windows Vista be it 32 biot or 64 bit the SEP is supported. You may run winver command on the machine to know whether it is 32 or 64 bit OS.

In order to find out which version for Vista you have you may visit :http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218

After determining the Operating system version, you can choose the 32 or 64 bit version of SEP 11

For 32 bit and 64 bit license is same.At the time of licensing the client may be 32 bit or 64 bit.It is irrelevant.Only number of PCs which you are gong to install SEP is important. In other words there is no separate license for 64 bit and 32 bit. Both are same in therms of license.

If you download the software using any license you will get both 32 bit and 64 bit installation package .....

You can use 64 bit package for installing in the systems with 64 bit os and 32 bit installation package in the systems with 32 bit os

The latest version RU6MP1(11.0.6100) will work with windows vista also.It also works with windows 2000/xp/2003/2008 and with windows 7

    Hello,

I prefer 64 bit Os and applications. Cause you can use more than 4 GB Ram. This is the big diffrent. Therefore you can run more applications without slowing. More Ram More Power :)

    Best Regards.

I too agree with it."64 bit Os and applications" will give good performance. But if you want to install SEP 64 bit you should have 64 bit OS.But one disadvantage of 64 bit I observed is may softwares which is commonly using will not work with 64 bit/64 bit version of may softwares are not available....
