404 - Document Not Found
Updated: 29 Nov 2011 | 6 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.
Hi everybody,
Recently i had to restore a backup on our Symantec Brightmail Gateway 9.0.2, and everything went fine, except that new "spam quarantine messages" sent to users, when they click at "release" or "view", they get the error "404 - Document Not Found".
(i updated this post with the image bellow in order to try to be as clear as possible)
And when clicking on those marked in red...
Already checked a solution provide in this forum, which tells to change the 127.0.0.1 in Control Center SMTP Settings to the correct IP address, but that's not the case - this parameter is already correct.
If anyone have clues, please let me know !
Thanks,
Carlos Oliveira

It's tough to troubleshoot
It's tough to troubleshoot this one on the forums since it requires revealing some of the information you blocked out in order to really understand what is occurring. However, my first question is: are you sure that these links are for new message? One possibility is that the backup contained older messages that were expunged after notifications were sent. If this is the case, then the issue should resolve itself as new spam updates the database.
Other than that, something that is seen with some frequency is that the base quarantine link itself is not correct. This setting can be found in the Control Center:
If the login URL is correct, then review the URL displayed in the browser address bar when one of the 404 errors shows up to see if you can spot any problems.
If none of this helps, then I would suggest contacting support so they can help you take a closer look without you needing to expose sensitive information publicly.

Are you able to post the URL
Are you able to post the URL that resulted in this message?
Hi Art_P and TSE-JDavis,
Hi Art_P and TSE-JDavis, thank you both for answering !
I had verified "Spam Quarantine login URL" before, and to tell you the truth, i change it. But it wasn't working before... looks correctly, but something is telling me that this URL is the problem.
Spam Quarantine login URL: http://antispam.[mydomain].com.br:[port]/brightmail/viewLogin.do
And to answering TSE-JDavis... when i click "View" for example, this is what it tries to load at the browser:
http://antispam.[mydomain].com.br:[port]/brightmail/viewLogin.do/viewMsgDetails.do?id=g7G%2FWzfH%2Ffw%3DbFJnXN81%2BGHf1XvP6Cmqw%2B8XYBy0%2BuYH04NGS79fQK8%3D¬ify=g7G%2FWzfH%2Ffw%3DwgpjHXlG45meMoichdGe1mDM%2BFUzbqXuDhRu9J4YSxw%3D
Thanks again !

Hi ! I was able to
Hi !
I was able to reach an old "Spam Quarantine Message" mail message, and the "View" of that message loads a different address:
Present address when clicking "View":
http://antispam.[mydomain].com.br:[port]/brightmail/viewLogin.do/viewMsgDetails.do?id=...
Old address when clicking "View" in the past:
http://antispam.[mydomain].com.br:[port]/brightmail/viewMsgDetails.do?id=...
So, at Brightmail, i changed the "Spam Quarantine login URL" from http://antispam.[mydomain].com.br:[port]/brightmail/viewLogin.do to http://antispam.[mydomain].com.br:[port]/brightmail/ .
I think it will work now... we will have summary mail messages tomorrow morning, i will be back to tell what happens !
Thanks, only thought about it by reading your posts !
