5230 call home and software update targets and ports

Created: 25 Nov 2013 • Updated: 07 Feb 2014 | 2 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have several netbackup 5230's in a special network.  And by special I mean I have to be able to tell the firewall team what ports and target i.p. addresses I want to access outside it.

So does anyone have a handle on what Ip address these units contact for.

1. Software updates (manage > software > check, download)

2. Call Home (datacollects, and hardware errors)

Thanks

Sulivan

Call Home uses SSL, so 443 and connects to IP address 216.168.252.222 and 69.58.182.57

TheNetBackup Product Improvement Program agent uses the same port and communicates with https://telemetrics.symantec.com on IPaddress 216.10.195.50

I had the feeling that software check uses the same port but i will see if i can find out where it talks to

If you use the IPMI that uses various ports too (5123, 5120, 7578, 7582 and 5127)

Hope this helps

You are also able to setup a proxy if needed

To enable proxy settings, run the Main > Settings > CallHome Proxy Enable command.

To add a proxy server, run the Main > Settings > CallHome Proxy Add name port command. Here, name is the TCP/IP address or the fully qualified
domain name of the proxy server and port is the port number.
