64 bit DEVICE BLOCKING POLICY SEP

So iv just read somewhere that SEP DEVICE BLOCKING does not work Windows x64 platforms. Can anyone confirm this.

SEP 11 only supports 32bit

SEP 11 only supports 32bit app and device control

SEP 12.1 supports 32/64bit app and device control

Yes it does not work in SEp

Yes it does not work in SEp 11.X but in SEP 12.1 it works

-          Internet Email scanning
-          Device Control
-          Firewall
-          IPS
-          Application Learning
-          Host Integrity (SNAC)
 
Features NOT supported by 64bit:
-          Application Control
-          System Lockdown
-          Outlook email scanning
-          Lotus email scanning
-          Right-click scan for viruses

Sounds like you were talking SEP 12 does not support application

Arpitbadwaik,

I trust you  posted the reliable fact of SEP 12 as you are Symantec employee --- SEP 12 does not support application control, system lockdown,etc on 64bit OS, Can you please be more detail on this? I heard SEP 12 is the first time that SEP supprot no difference on 32bit and 64bit OS. can you please verify that? Thanks

So your telling me.............

to enjoy the feature of Device and Application blocking on a 64x OS, i will have to upgrade my environment to 12.1!!!??

Can i not run 12.1 clients of a 11.* SEPM?

You can upgrade SEPM to 12.1

You can upgrade SEPM to 12.1 and then deploy the SEP 12.1 client to your 64bit PC's. All other PC's can remain at SEP 11 since SEPM 12.1 manages both 12.1 and 11 clients

Hello EDFT_Support

You need to upgrade SEPM as well as Clients to SEP 12.1 RU1 which is latest SEP available.

Lot of fixes in SEP 12.Right

Lot of fixes in SEP 12.

Right scan is available in 64bit machine

Application & Device control is working on 64bit.
