After SEP was installed I received the blue screen of death when the install program rebooted the computer. The error screen flashes by too fast to be readable, so there is no way to see what error is being reported.  Windows recovery and revert to last know good configuration did not work, nor did booting from a Windows CD. I'm going to attempt to read the hd tomorrow with a USB/SATA adapter to see if I can recover my files. If this fails, is there anything else we can do? Our IT support contractor wants to re-image the hd, but if they do that I will have a huge job getting the laptop back to working condition.

    Thanks

    Dave

I meant to specify "after SEE was installed", not "SEP"

At what point did you reboot the machine?  Is this after installing the Framework package, or after the Full Disk component?

If the former, then the machine is not yet encrypted and you should be able to read it fine.  If this only failed after the Full Disk component was installed, then it may already be partially encrypted.  In which case you can see what's on the disk and copy stuff off by booting to the SEE Access CD (image included in the server media), before attempting to force decryption using the Recovery CD (and image of which is also included in the server media).

    Also, the below might help:

The reboot was the SEE installer's automatic reboot following the SEE install - I'm not sure which package/component. In any case, a third attempt to repair - which ran all night - reported a successful repair this morning. Thanks for the info, though - it's good to know a bit about this stuff.
