7.0 SW Update agent upgrade issues?

Shane Faber's picture

I installed a 7.0 CMS7 2 weeks ago. At that time the SW Update agent was v7.0.3127.
Last week I upgraded everything and several agents had newer versions including the sw update agent, now v7.0.3308.

The Altiris agent and App metering agent upgrade policies worked fine.
Before I enabled them, both default upgrade targets showed a count of machines that needed the upgrade.
I enabled them and that was that.

However, the SW Update agent policy's default target displayed a count of '0'. It's still displaying a count of '0'.
I only noticed the new version because I rolled out more agents during the second week and they all installed the newer versions.
In the course of my troubleshooting, I can't find the sw update agent package.
It is not in the sw catalog. I can't find it in the x86 folder on the NS either.
I'm going to make a target out of machines with the older version BUT I shouldn't have to do this.
Any one else noticed this yet?
and what package is installing the sw update agent?
I've looked through the documentation and I can't find any explanation in there!

I just tried to apply the new

I just tried to apply the new target to the default sw update agent upgrade policy and it will not accept it.
However, the cloned upgrade policy will, so I'm using that and its starting to work already.
Anyone else seen this behavior?

Same issue and more

Yes, I am having problems with Software management also, and I just upgraded from 6.X last week.

The altiris agent and inventory module are getting updated fine, but software management agent is not getting updated at all.

I am trying to create a filter that will exclude servers, but with just going with their default "all windows computers without software management solution agent installed" I get a an error after I click udate results in it finds the machines. It says "the data could not be loaded."

If I try the "Software Management solution agent for windows - upgrade" it does not find any machines at all.

Also, where is the patch management for Macs? I see it for windows and Linux but no Mac patch management folders?

Patch for Mac

The easiest way to access it is to go under Home->Software->Patch Management.  Expand the 'Mac OS X' section and then click on the 'Updates' hyperlink.  Under the 'Getting Started' web part, you'll see the steps you need to take to start updated your Macs.

Thanks Andrew!

7.0 is a lot different but so far so good. I Can't wait to use the Adobe deployment.

With CMS 1

the ability to patch Adobe Vulnerabilties (amongst other apps) is now available. And if I may, I suggest opening a new thread, as this could be a serious support issue, and I don't want it to get buried.
