    3-part Question:

    1) Has a release date been set for 7.0.6?

    2) When 7.0.6 is released, will it contain all the functionality for Windows 7?  In particular, the pre-boot authentication and single sign-on?

    3) If I push out a policy in 7.0.5 on a Windows 7 box that includes pre-boot authentication, authenti-check and single sign-on, will that functionality automatically begin working when 7.0.6 is released?

As you can tell, taking that functionality out of the 7.0.5 release bit us pretty hard!

I was hoping someone from Symantec might have replied by now, maybe they can answer officially. There has been a bit of talk on the forums that 7.0.6 will fully support Windows 7, including PBA, authenticheck, SSO.

In terms of the upgrade, nothing will change when you upgrade the management servers, but when you create the new 7.0.6 client packages you will set everything up as you want (e.g. with pre-boot, SSO) and then install it, the installation settings will apply and as long as your AD policy doesnt conflict, I would think it would work as you want. All this is just going on how previous versions have worked obviously, it could well be different next time around!

There are some reports of 7.0.4 still working on Win7 - maybe you could skip 7.0.5 and go for 7.0.6? I dont think you'll have to wait that long. Drop Symantec support a line to ask about the release date

I understand your frustration with the 7.0.5 product and that it didnt work correctly with the preboot authentication and single sign-on. This is something that will be resolved in the 7.0.6 as for the specific release date I cannot provide one.

I notice Symantec employees get VERY quiet when you ask them that question.  Guess we just get it when we get it.

Apologies for that, SEE 7.0.6 dates were hard to predict once we announced our intention to acquire GuardianEdge.

As you can see, 7.0.6 also includes the ability to migrate from any GuardianEdge product to Symantec Endpoint Encryption :-)
