I think it'd be great to get some 7.6 documentation stickies at the top of the forum.  Anyone have any useful links?

Also curious what everyone does to back up their CMS environment before upgrading?  We run a DB backup, snapshot both our NS and DB servers and have volume shadow copies turned on which so far has gotten us by.

During upgrades I've lost custom sysprep files, 2 files that I deploy via file copy, and image files disappeared going to 7.5 I believe it was.  The image files are so big I ended up recreating those :(

Curious what others are doing in terms of prep for upgrade.

I lost my images in the upgrade to 7.5.... which when I called about it I was told I was the only one and should have backed it up...

I am not sure if I want to do snapshots.  I think I may clone my DB, NS and main T/P/M site server.  Snapshots on a DB tend to grow rather rapidly.  Either way, it will take me a lot of space.

Has anyone done the upgrade yet?  Have you lost anything if you did?

@burndtjammer - I wasn't clear. Shadow copies are only on the NS server, not the DB.  This allowed me to restore my lost sysprep and file copy files when those went missing during various upgrades.  This can be tricky though if the original folder is deleted during upgrade, though.

One thing I forgot to mention, in my last upgrade to 7.5 SP1 HF5. all of my deploy image tasks became corrupted (I think it related to those syprep files going away).  This corrupted my deploy jobs as well, I couldn't even click on them in the console.

This was a problem because I couldn't remember every task I had in each job, and I had to recreate them from scratch.  Support helped and got me tools to see what was in those jobs in the backend so I could recreate in console, but one thing support recommended going forward was to right click on my image jobs in future and select export.  This gives you xml that would be helpful if you had to rebuild the image jobs without going into the backend.

I'll probably wait out the 7.6 upgrade until a few hot fixes are out.  I am looking into the Bomgar piece ASAP though as it will be nice to no longer support PCAnywhere.
