I have a strange problem with inbound mail.
I can see a lot of messages insight of Message Audit Logs with "Abort message".
All messages came from different senders via different SMTP servers, to different recipients.
But when I use the Ironport product, these problem did not appear.
I have used the SMG that the version is 9.5.1-6.

If the problem is network or firewall, I wonder why the Ironport product do not have any problem.
What is the difference between the Ironport and SMG?

The best way to get an answer would be to perform a packet capture and see what the actual traffic looks like.

If you call in and open a ticket we can walk you through performing a packet capture and help analyze it. It would be most helpful if you are able to reproduce this issue easily, so have one of these senders ready to send a message through.

    Hi Kim,

Have you checked this article yet?

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH85536

I have seen these issues a lot lately due to the default settings on Cisco ASA/PIX, if you have that device in your environment, make sure you disabled esmtp inspection (ASA) or mailguard (PIX).

If you do not have those devices, please tell us what kind of firewall/router you have in front of the SMG appliances.

Like JDavis said, the best way to find out what's happening is to get a packet capture that way we can really see what is going on.

    Thank you,
