About the server security of website from hackers

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I am a user of Norton 360 and i am using it for over last nine months . I use internet through a proxy server internet connection . I have a website and i am planning to buy a server for it . I want to know that what products should i use to secure it from hackers . Secondly i want to know if SSL encryption will help me or not ?

You can look at Symantec Endpoint Protection:

http://www.symantec.com/endpoint-protection

Also, SSL would encrypt the traffic between client/server so depending on what your server is doing (transactions?) this is something you would want to use.

No i am not using my site for transactions or e commerce . But i found by googling that some sites still use it ?

It is simply for encrypting communication between client and server. If you're not concerned with the privacy of the data being exchanged between client/server than you don't need to use SSL. But otherwise, data is being transitted in clear text and can easily be sniffed.
