about superseded patch/hotfix of windows

Created: 16 May 2014 | 1 comment

Hello,  I have a question for superseded patch/hotfix of windows in altiris patch management:

Assume: Patch1 was superseded by Patch 2.

on a windows machine, patch 2 installed but pathc 2 not installed for some reason, then I create a patch  policy which includes the patch 1 to deliver a couple of patches to the machine, what will happen then?  Will the patch 1 installed  too or not?  how the Patch mgmt solution handle the situation like this?

Hello Sean,

You should configure pms to disable and remove superseded updates on the server side.

On the client side, the pms agent should not target the machine with superseded updates due to the shavlik data it gets from the server.
