Accepting email in additional languages

If i enable the acceptance of emails in Spanish, or any other foreign language, is Brightmail capable of scanning the "foreign" email for SPAM and virus content? Or does it just pass them through. I am located in the US.

Yes Symantec Brightmail Message Filter will scan all messages for spam and virus content.
Where a language identification feature exists (as in Symantec Brightmail Gateway), this is an extra feature so if you are sure your users should never receive messages in a particular language, you can take a specific action with those messages.
