Not sure if this is the right place for this question.

I need to create a folder in Altiris "7.5" with specific jobs and taks and restric access to it through security group in AD.

I think i need to create a rule first. 

Not able to find "how to" yet on symantec connect or google.

Maybe someone can point in the right direction?

Is this an additional set of jobs for current SMP users?  If so we have do this by creating a role that has only has access to that folder, we normally go with READ and RUN Task but you will need Write if they need to edit, then remove all non admin roles from the permoissions .  Then we add the AD group to the import and make that a member of the role.

If it is a new set of users that will only ever see these jobs you need to clone an existing role that can do the minimum you require and remove all unwanted permisions before adding the ad group to it.

We are jumping straight form 7.1 to 7.6 so can't give specifics from the 7.5 console as I haven't seen it

Correct, i have a set of applications that i need to restrict deployment access to a specific set of techs. I have created a role and imported an AD group and gave it access to the folder, however everyone else can see and run as well.

Trying to figure out how to take rights away.

You need ot break inheritance.  it is in the advabnce tab in 7.6
