  • 1.  Access denied message in NS 7.1 SP2 console for Symantec Level2 worker roles user

    Hi,

I'm getting a message  Error "Access Denied. You currently do not have sufficient network access rights to the Notification Server console." when trying to access the Altiris Console with Symantec Level2 worker roles user

But with Symantec Administrator roles - It works fine,Previously when we had NS 7.0,we never had this issue. After the manual migration - We have this issue with NS 7.1 SP2

I've already tried SMP Repair as well we tried cloning and reassigned the cloned Symantec Level 2 Worker roles - Still we have the problem

I'm running with Sql 2005 - Tried SpStringCacheDisable and SpStringCacheEnable in sql server 2005 - That doesn't work either

    Any suggestion? Please help

Roles and security changed a great deal from 7.0 to 7.1.  Have you confirmed that the user exists as a User Account?  Does that User Account have membership in the Role?

We only have administrators but we had to put the members of our Administrators AD group directly into the Symantec Administrators group immediately after the upgrade.

    Hi Mike,

User account has the membership of symantec level2 workers and the user exists as a user account

But when we compare the test environment with production server, the inherited data class doesn't have read and write permission,so we add read and write permission to non-inherited data class manually- That doesn't work either

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Is there any way to reconfigure console settings in NS 7.1 to solve the above issue without trying Aexconfig.exe / configureall as it well configure all my solutions and policies to default

    and run aexconfig.exe /e:\program files\...\ns.config.

This is for NS6 but gives an idea:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH13916

"Re-register CoreSolution.config using the AeXConfig utility with the /configure switch. AexConfig is located at <install path>\Altiris\Notification Server\bin. CoreSolution.config is located at <install path>\Altiris\Notification Server\Config. To illustrate the correct syntax, here is an example of the command line from a default install of Notification Server:

    "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\bin\AeXConfig.exe" /configure "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Config\CoreSolution.config"

Andy: There is a hotfix available for the groups issue.  Contact support.

Viswa123: Can you export the role from test and import it into production, as an .xml?

Finally we cloned the Symantec Admin role and brought down the privilege similar to Symantec level 2 workers and assigned it to the users - It worked

    Thanks for all the response
