We are running backup exec10 backing up exchange 2003, and are getting the following message. It seems this relates to the built in exchange smtp mailbox.

Backup- \\XMANSVR\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes V-79-57344-33928 - Access is denied.
Access denied to file SMTP (XMANSVR-{02F2F09E-73E3-4BE3-8705-6265EE2EEC85}) TempTable#1#12Stuff to do.
V-79-57344-33928 - Access is denied.
Access denied to file SMTP (XMANSVR-{02F2F09E-73E3-4BE3-8705-6265EE2EEC85}) TempTable#1#5Stuff to do.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Read through the BE Admin Guide - the section related to the Exchange Agent.
Pay particular attention to the suggestions when you choose to do mailbox backups.

The recommendation is to EXCLUDE the SMTP maiboxes.

I don't understand why you want SMTP backup?

It's recommanded not to backup SMTP IS store/mailbox

Hi Glen,

It is NOT recommended to run the backups using SMTP. Please run a normal backup and verify the results.
