    Hi All,

I'm trying to push a install to a vista home premium x64 machine and get this error "access is denied" when trying to start the install.  I have checked all the recommended stuff and can't get the install to go.  I can access shares on this system without problem.  Any ideas?

Did you prepare the Vista before deploying it?

Also try turning off the defender if its on, You will have to use the GPO if you have multiple clients.

I finally got it to install by turning UAC off.

Very cool, Were you using a local account rather than a domain account?

Actually this laptop isn't in the domain, so it was the local admin account that was used.

That explains, We could have got here before.

    Probably you missed the para

The Microsoft Windows Vista feature, "User Access Control" (UAC) blocks local administrative accounts from remotely accessing remote administrative shares such as "C$" and "Admin$." To use the "Push Deployment Wizard Tool" in this scenario, use a "Domain Administrative" account if the target client computer is part of an "Active Directory" domain. Remote client installation also requires elevated privileges to install

    from the article posted above.

    But you got there:)

Thanks, yes I read that and since it was not a member of a domain I just move on with my reading the page.  Maybe it should be edited to cover a non domain install.

Probably you have a point. I have pointed this page in the feedback for the article and  agree with you. It's been stated explicitly " if the target client computer is part of an "Active Directory" domain"
