aclient.cfg concern

Equniox's picture

I am a network administrator currently rolling out thin clients across my network. I have noticed in the aclient.cfg file a parameter called [security]secure = . I am concerned about have this information on the client, and was wondering if you could fill me in, or point me to the relevant documentation regarding this section of the config that would be great!

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know...

As far as I know, this looks to be an encrypted key, which I would assume would be used if encryption was turned on on the server. It is really hard to tell since there is almost zero information out there about the file.

how are you pushing the image out? I'm using the HII Image with Firm.exe I delete the previous *.cfg file these file get's generated again with defaults that you set for your altiris agent.

enable encryption in DS?

If you didn't enable encryption in DS you won't see anything here. Check to see how DS is setup

security

Do you have a password set on the aclient so user's can't change config? Also do you have tokens set on the DS so clients only talk to their designated DS?

These are what these setting are for and they are encrypted.
