    Hello ,

i have a problem we're using a service call Altiris(HelpDesk system) we exported all user from AD into service desk unfortunately all my users did not come over about half .

if someone know Altiris an had this problem let me know

2)what i would like to do is export 2 user record from AD with all the Attribute . I know AD has a lot of Attr. but it would help so i can compare each record to see what field is missing from one of the ones that didn't  upload in to servicedesk.

The company that set up Altiris said the reason was that sthe users that were imported over had  one of the hidden Atrribute fields in AD filled out that the others did not

First off it would be great to know the version of the product you are using, as Altiris Helpdesk is an EOL 6.x product, and Altiris Service Desk is a 7.x product based off of the Altiris Workflow Solution?

The AD Import has a limit as to how many objects it can import in one go, so perhaps thats the problem.

When you configure an import rule, you can select what data class columns you want to map to which AD attribute.

You need to be careful with this though, as I believe that the AD objects have to have data in the attributes that you target.

By default, you need at least display name and given name, or something along those lines.  I cant quite remember, sorry.

With 6.x, you can select which OUs to import. As long as you don't store service and test accounts in user OUs, that will help cut down on the number of users imported

In the AD import configuration, you can see which attributes can be imported and where they map to in Altiris.

EOL or not, I prefer 6.x to 7.x, but that's just me. I prefer simple. 6.x only requires 1 average server, whereas 7.x requires about 3 super heavy duty servers, if I remember correctly. We set it up in a lab and decided to stay with 6 until something better, less complicated, and most important, requiring fewer servers, comes along.
