  • 1.  Active Directory Computers not importing into NS fully

Hi All, Bit of an odd one. Our Active Directory Import seems to be only importing about 60% of our PC's. When I look at the AD Collections and at specific OU's, some only have 3 PC's listed when I know there should be 30. When I manually run the import task if ticks up very slowly from 0-10% then jumps to 95% before finishing. I'm guessing it's skipping over other PC's for some reason. I've had a good look around the net and tried a number of different things, including reading the AD from the AD Controller rather then the domain. Nothing seems to have worked. What I have noticed is that each time I run the import, some more PC's do appear. Has something broken? Thanks for any help Leonard

Managed to figure this one out myself. It seems one of our DNS server is playing up. I pointed the Active Direcotory import to look direct at another server and this then fixed the problem. I also changed our primary DNS server to this other server and it fixed other problems with web browsing. So I don't think it was a problem with Altiris but rather a problems with DNS on our domain. Yet another problem to look at.

and for the AD connection... when i read about it, it was saying that selecting a DC is more stable then selecting Domain but then you loose redundancy when the DC go down. i think that working with one DC is better option because the integrity of the data is more important then redundancy in that case. you can always move to other DC manually.
