The Standard Client includes the ability to backup system state, which is what you need to protect for an Active Directory server. There is no separate agent for Active Directory in NetBackup today.
Given that Backup Exec has a separate Active Directory agent that can do granular restores of AD data without a reboot you can probably expect it to appear in NetBackup soon.

Jeff, thank you very much!
I believe it's currently slated for NBU 6.5.4
Special AD agent in NBU 6.5.4 ?
I don't believe it's going to require a special agent, as the data is already there in the Shadow Copy Components now, the intelligence is just being added to mount that copy (you have to back it up to disk, not tape) and restore components back into the live AD from it.
AD Agent for NBU in 6.5.4
Here is the announcement of the Active Directory Agent in NetBackup 6.5.4 Pre-Availability release. Notice AD Agent with GRT is the last one.
What are the key new features NetBackup 6.5.4?
The marquee features of NetBackup 6.5.4 include:
· Storage Lifecycle Policy Improvements
· Improved Windows 2008 Master Server Support
· NOM Improvements
· SharePoint Improvements, Including Installation
· Enterprise Vault Agent
· Hyper-V Agent
· Active Directory Agent with Granular Restore
We are going to be testing this in our lab setting along with the GRT for Exchange as well. It will be nice to be able to restore only the objects in the AD that someone deleted or removed.
