This issue has been solved. See solution.

How can I configure the console so that I can see 4 to 5 weeks of previous jobs in the activity monitor? Thanks

Jobs are default for 3 days

bpdbjobs -keep_hours <hours> for current session

Depending on which O/S you are using, the setting below in bp.conf or registry can be applied.
KEEP_JOBS_HOURS = <hours>

Not really wise to keep that much.

You REALLY want to do that?

Please understand that a different database is kept for Activity Monitor. (Default is 3 days)

The NBU 'error' database (similar to an event/system log) and the logs on master and media servers keep information for 28 days by default.

So, if backups are no longer visible in Activity Monitor, you can still report on them via reports such as
Backup Status Report
All Log entries Report
etc.

You can adjust Activity Monitor retention, but that will put extra load on the jobs database that needs to be refreshed every 'X' couple of seconds and make your GUI very slow...

SOLUTION

that sounds right. now my delima is that i have been learning and managing (or trying to with the help from you gurus). the activity monitor shows jobs dating back to 4/29/13. that is about 15 days and is sometimes helpful. i have been given the responsiblity of a remote site also. in that activity monitor displays jobs dating back to 5/8/13 that is about 6 days. I want to increase this to about 15 days for now. when i am done monitoring then i want to change both back to 7 days. i did a search for bp.conf and did not find it. could you point me to the location of that file. THANKS!!

/usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf

You may want to look into OPS Center.

No bp.conf on a Windows master.

It's a registry entry on Windows. See the link to HOWTO34359 in my previous post.

I assume that you have not read Mariann's post

run the following commands

for 15 days

echo KEEP_JOBS_HOURS = 360| bpsetconfig
echo KEEP_JOBS_SUCCESSFUL_HOURS = 360 | bpsetconfig

for 7 days

echo KEEP_JOBS_HOURS = 168 | bpsetconfig
echo KEEP_JOBS_SUCCESSFUL_HOURS = 168 | bpsetconfig

Is there a limit to the number of jobs that show in activity monitor. for example. if i have keep_jobs_hours and keep_jobs_successful_hours set 360, and the total number of jobs run in that period is 450. Will I be able to see all 450 jobs or is there a limit to how many jobs will show in that time period?

No, there is no limit like this
