AD import problem
I imported our users (contact) using the AD import tool this worked fine however in AD we do not list some specific information such as location, phone number, I turned off the import since everytime I it ran it seemed to delete any information the helpdesk workers added. Suchas office location or phone numbers. Even though I turned it off I still have some people with incorrect information that I am unable to retain after editing the profile. Please help I would like to use the AD import since we have new people added fairly often but I want to be able to change information such as last names, add phone info etc... to the contact inside of the helpdesk. I am using NS6 with Helpdesk 6 sp5.

While I've not done it myself my understanding of the process is you should be able to update that information by modifying the "nssource.xml" file that is located at C:\Program Files\Altiris\Helpdesk\AeXHD\templates
The contact update section is toward the bottom of that file.
My understanding is that file will allow you to specify what items do and don't get modified when the synchronization between Notification Server and Helpdesk Solution takes place. By removing the appropriate lines that should stop it from overwriting that information. Hopefully that will work.
I will say I don't necessarily recomend doing it that way. I'd prefer to see that information get logged properly in Active Directory if it were up to me, but I understand that's not always possible.
