AD Users and discovered resources and reporting
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 1 comment
Hi All,
I was looking for some info on the net about what can be done with importing USERS from the AD import?
Are they able to be assigned to a COMPUTER resource?
I'd like to have AD info for USERS populated, i.e Department, On another note I've turned off any USER importing and Im still seeing some ad users in resources??
The end result i'm after is that I want a report which lists the following:
PC Name,PC Model, PC Serial Number, User, User Department, IP address/Site location (if possible what site the IP address corresponds to from the "Sites" with subnet setup)

Sorry, I'm a little confused by the details
listed here.
1) Did you originally import users via the AD connector?
2) Do you own CMDB\Asset?
3) Is this version 7 or 6? (Asset for 7 isn't out yet, but CMDB is, and is 'bundled in).
4) As an FYI, the user data could have been pulled in via a previous import, or sent via basic inventory. At that point, Altiris (by default) will associate the primary user by the logged in user who uses the system the most during a month.
That user data can be manipulated like any other data, i.e. purged, so if it was there, it will still be there until you remove it (either automated or manually).
