  • 1.  Add licenses - How?

We have Endpoint 11.0 with 10 licenses.  Needed more so reseller sold us 5 and sent us a certificate.  There is no place I could find in Endpoint to plug in the license.  I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Symantec and was told that I don't need to plug in anything for the licenses to take affect.  I asked how that worked...but by that time I was tired of trying to communicate with people I couldn't understand.

I also went to the site on the certificate that had turorials on licenses.  They were only videos and like many servers, I have no sound.  Thanks Symantec.

So someone please tell me, if I have a certificate with 5 more licenses, how do I get the Endpoint on my Server 2003 to recognize them?  I don't believe it just happens magically.

As long as you have the certificates you are fine. You don't need to apply it anywhere. SEP has no license file. You only need to apply the license if you purchased the SNAC piece of SEP.

Search the forum, there are plenty of posts that talk about licenses.

I find Endpoint baffling.  And Symantec support is just awful.  Just awful.

So there is no place in Endpoint that tells me how many licenses I have?

SEP does not "count" licensing.  Honestly, it relies on YOU being sure you are compliant.  I don't know the reasoning behind this approach, but it is how it works.  Keep your license file (PDF) on file for future reference and "self-police" yourself in terms of the number of clients you have running as compared to the number of licenses you have.

    Hi,

In Symantec Endpoint there is no need to update the license.  It is only the matter of paper or pdf license.

Technically Symantec Endpoint will work with out any license.  The License what you purchase will help you at Audit times.
