  • 1.  Added 2nd SEPM server, clients not showing up on original SEPM

    Hi There;

Guess I goofed somewhere along the line.  Had one WIN2K3 server config'd with SEPM, and about 130 XP clients communicating properly.  Added a 2nd WIN2K3 server and config'd SEPM on it in order to establish a replicated setup.  After that, when I look at  Servers/Local site  from the original server, it's the new server that shows up,  and there are no clients showing up in the original SEPM.

My questions are,  how to re-establish the connection to those clients? (I would imagine the SEP11 configuration on the workstations hasn't changed.)....and what do I do about the second server?

I've tried re-installing to the clients from the SEPM console, but again nothing shows up.

    Thanks,

    Gregg

    Hello,

Make sure the MSL is defined properly.

ok, so how long is replication supposed to take?.....and are the sem5.db files in "Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db" supposed to be the same size on each server?

(because it is taking forever, and the one is about half the size of the other,......and isn't incrementing up at all)

depends on number of clients; if its less then 100; then 1 hour should be the max..if u see that its stuck ; u can then end and start a new replication..

    Some quick clarification...

Are the clients not showing up at all, or are they showing up with a little red arrow instead of the green dot in the SEPM?  Clearing up that piece of information will sway which way this issue needs to be investigated.

No, they are not showing up at all.  Actually I don't mind starting from scratch. This is a relatively small network.  Our other network which is fairly large (3500+ devices) is working fine.    The main thing here is how to re-establish contact with the (former) clients?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

When you configured additional SEPM which option did you select ?

    2. Configure an additional management server to an existing site - this option is for fail-over & load balancing

    or

    3. Configure an additional site - this option is for replication.

If your all the clients are reporting to new server, when you shut down or stop Symantec service on new server does client fail-over to original SEPM ?

To connect clients to original SEPM sylink replacer can be one of the best option .
