  • 1.  adding an additional sep manager and LU content

    Posted Nov 24, 2010 09:06 AM

    Hi,

    We have a SEP Manager environment including a seperate SQL DB and two SEP Managers connected to that DB serving in the same SEP site.

    One of those servers is now malfunctioning and there is no backup of that server.

    Now what I want to do is to reinstall the whole OS and SEP Manager again with a new computer name and IP adress as an additional SEP manager.

    This can be done but the point is what will happen to the 60 revision LU content and all the deltas.

    Will the new server request those content from the old server?

    Before you uninstall; under the replication select replicate LU contents.

    once it replicate you can then uninstall it.

    by the way; who is downloading the defs; sepm1 or sepm2;

    I have not tried this ,neither come across a senario as such but i feel that the NEW SEPM will not request content from the old SEPM , it would start with a fresh content of its own

    They way bekir has explained the senarion , it seems that there is no replcation as both the SEPM are pointing to the SEPM DB.It is a failover /loadbalacing senario

    For replication both the SEPM will have their own DB

    in a load-balancing/fail-over scenario, how can you tell which SPEM is downloading the defs?

    Both the SEPM's will download the defs .
