We are looking to deploy Endpoint manager to server outside our headquarters.  I would like guidance on best practices for adding sites.  I have install the Symantec End Point manager on the new server and ready to go through the wizard.  If I click on ‘Install an additional site’ will the new server be a down-level of the server of our headquarters?  I want to make sure that I keep our headquarters server as the main server.

First off, this appears to be for Symantec Endpoint Protection, so this is in the wrong forum (not a problem, I'm happy to move it for you). Typically adding or linking sites in SEP is done for replication purposes, which I have found to be quite perilous when going across WAN connections.

You are selecting the correct option. But always try to minimize the number of replicated site hence it will be difficult to manage.GUP is a good option in the remote sites. If you are bothered about band width have a look at this article. It may give you some informations which can help you in taking a decision.

We will be looking to use a GUP as that looks to be the best option.
