Adding client installation package updates

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I'm wondering how to go about keeping up to date on point upgrades to Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and Clients? According to this document on page 152 "Symantec sends you client installation package updates "

http://www.symantec.com/connect/sites/default/file...

Not only don't I get these sent to me, I am struggling to find them on the Symantec website. Were I to get them, do I need to update SEPM first, or just deploy the new packages under the older version?

Thanks

You can download the client-only patches here:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH206977

You don't necessarily need to upgrade the SEPM first but it's always recommended to be on the same version.

12.1 SEPM will manage any version of 12.1 clients (also 11.x)

Other way is to import the client packages from the install package of any SEP version - those you can get as usual from the fileconnect.

Just a note we do note recommend to deploy the new packages under the older SEPM version - always try to keep your SEPM on the same or higher version tham the clients managed by it.

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your query.

Option is available under liveupdate settings.

Liveupdate--> Windows Update--> Advance settings--> Product update settings.

If you checked this option, you will see the latest client packages under Admin--> Install packages.

In this case even though SEPM is on the older version it will download the latest available packages from Liveupdate Server.

However it's receommended to have SEPM and SEP clients on the same version.

What is your current manager and client version.?

12.x is the version which can manage all the client which can of earlier or later version

We are recommended that you can first upgrade your Manager after that upgrade the Client with Latest.

If you no need to upgrade the version of SEPM or only need to deploy the client with latest then download the package from File Connect and deploy on client using deployment wizard
