  • 1.  Adding More than 1 Filter Condition Switches to Advanced Mode

Found another possible bug introduced with the SMP 7.1 SP2 Rollup v2 (2/17/12).  During report/filter creation, if you add more than one filter condition then save, the filter expression unexpectedly switches to Advanced Mode.  I have an open case but tech support has yet to verify my findings.

I posted another issue where the "Add" button doesn't work in advanced mode (a support engineer confirmed this behavior and the issue was sent to the advanced team for review) so if I normally add conditions to the Filter Expressions tab and it switches to advanced mode after saving the filter/report, I can't add additional filter expression operands.  With all these bugs/defects, I seem to be going around in circles.

FYI: According to tech support, this issue isn't expected to be fixed until the v4 rollup.  I mentioned that it's more important to fix the "Add" button in Advanced Mode before this inability to add more than 1 filter condition without the GUI unexpectedly switching to advanced mode because you can always enter simple or complex filter expressions in advanced mode.  I opened the "Add button in advanced mode" case first so, hopefully, they'll tackle these problems in this order.

FYI: Someone from the Dev team found code (which was inserted recently) that automatically switches the filter expression to Advanced Mode whenever the user adds more than one condition.  Again, you see this only after you save.  Since fixing the Add button in advanced mode is absolutely necessary, they're considering just leaving this new code alone instead of incorporating a fix in the v4 rollup due in April.

FYI: At least for the v3 pointfix rollup, it appears the devs removed the previously inserted code that automatically switched you to Advanced Mode with more than 1 condition in your filter expression.  Who's to say what'll happen with the v4 rollup.  wink
