There was a fix for this in the appliance product as the 5.0 version was in both the appliance and the software installable version. So they run into similar problems. I do not know if this was put into SMTP 5 or not.

The version it was fixed for the appliance was 7.5 or 7.6... can't remember. The virtual appliance would have the same fix in it as well. So this might be one direction to go.

Other than that I would suggest calling into support as Symantec would need a case in order to try and get the issue addressed if possible.
