  • 1.  ADLAgent support for RHEL 6

    Posted Dec 30, 2011 10:23 AM

I'm using Altiris Deployment Solution (For Dell) 6.9 SP5 on my cluster.

Recently I wanted to upgrade operating systems on blade servers to Scientific Linux / CentOS / Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (6.1).

I noticed that adlagent on newly installed systems (RHEL 6.1 x86_64) is not visible anymore in my Deployment Console 6.9 (installed on Windows Server 2008). ADLAgent installs, starts and is running normally. The problem is, that Deployment Console can't see it (shows inactive/shutdown host).

On the same machines, but under RHEL 5 everything is fine.

So ... is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x (and CentOS/SL 6.x) unsupported by adlagent or am I doing something wrong?

    firewall disabled

    selinux disabled

The Supported Platforms and System Requirements matrix indeed does not show RHEL 6 as supported.

question is will it be supported? Maybe by new SP or some patching?

Only ADLAgent needs to be updated or the whole suite needs upgrade? And why RHEL6 is not supported?

We would like to avoid the cost of buying 7.1 while we have 6.9 SP5 and want to use RHEL6

    Hello januszm,

As no new feature additon will go in 6.9 product it will not support RHEL6.0.

7.1 is the product that will support RHEL6.x platforms.

    Thanks,

    Sachin

    Thank you for explanation.

Well too bad, especially, that there is just a new kernel and some packages are upgraded (RHEL 5 -> RHEL 6). We will not buy 7.1 so I have to switch to cobbler + parallel-ssh + something else combination.
