Adobe Flash Player

Created: 13 Oct 2011 | 9 comments

I noticed that in Patch management that adobe Flash Player 11 is not listed in the Patch Remediation. It did bring down an Adobe patch for:

Name: AAIR-300
Description: Adobe AIR 3.0

Anyone have the same situation? any info on why?

I imagine Symantec is busy repackaging the new version for release and Adobe AIR 3.0 must have finished earlier.  They've got to add it as a product as far as meta data is concerned.  For example, Adobe AIR 3.0 was released on October 3 but made it to Patch Management on October 6.

If you need an immediate confirmation on timeline, you should submit a support incident.  They'll be able to tell you where it sits in the pipeline.

Any idea when Flash Player 11 will be available for Patch?  Seems like its taking longer than usual ....

Adobe Flash Player 11.1.0.102.55 update (APSB11-28) was added in today's PM Import 7.1.257.

This is a great question.  I'd suggest submitting a ticket.  I've also flagged this for support, as I'm wondering myself what to expect as to when products like these will be added to the download list.

Technically, Flash 11 isn't a "patch", it is a full new release.  The patch for current Flash 10.3 users IS available.  Flash 11 will probably be added next week when Adobe releases YAAFP (Yet Another Adobe Flash Patchwink .

It appears APSP11-28 will not upgrade 10.3 flash user to 11.x flash.  Is there no way to do this with patch management?

Unfortunately not (at least in current implementation). Patch solution only updates software to the latest revision of given major version. The only exception may be some cases where the previous major version is no more supported - for example Adobe Air 3.0.0.4080 update could be used to update 2.0 installations because Air 2.x is no more supported.
