  • 1.  AeXPackageDelivery.dll Missing from Preboot

    I recently upgraded from 7.1 to 7.5 HF2.  Everything seems to be working except I cannot communicate with clients that are in the Preboot Environment.  The PectAgent log within Preboot shows the following error.

    [2014/01/09 09:53:38.239 288:300 2] AgentGlobals.h:112 RegisterLibrary: LoadLibrary Failed to load x:\program files\Symantec\Deployment\AeXPackageDelivery.dll
    [2014/01/09 09:53:38.239 288:300 0] AgentGlobals.h:114 Agent Exception, Could not laod file ErrorCode=0, SystemError=0
    [2014/01/09 09:53:38.239 288:300 2] apps\DeploymentClient\PECTAgent\PECTAgent.cpp:144 Stopping PECTAgent. Please check for Network configuration or server name resolving problem and try again.
     
    I double checked and the AeXPackageDelivery.dll file isn't in the preboot environment at all.  Does anybody know why it's not be included when bootwiz creates the preboot and how to fix it?  Thanks!!

    Does it exist on the NS or Site Server? C:\Program Files\Altiris\Deployment\BDC\bootwiz\oem\DS\winpe\x86\Base\Program Files\Symantec\Deployment\

    I have the same problem. My Deployment does not work of all because of this issue. I'm on 7.5 SP1. The file did not exist in the folder mentioned above and copying it from another installation did not help. I also tried to insert the file via DISM into the boot.wim but that also did not help at all - same message.

     

    Is there any solution to resolve this problem?

    Does it exist in the x64 part of the above path? Are you creating an x86 pe image? If so, try creating an x64 one as well.

    No, we only tried to make a x64 image and it did not exist there. I tdoes exist in the x86 folder though, but there are still a few DLLs missing there also, so it looks like the upgrade to SP1 might gone wrong..

    I resolved the issue by taking the files from a foreign installation of 7.5 SP1 and adding them to the folders our partners from X-Tech recommended. I also received the following mail by Symantec Support (which doesn't really make sense to me):

     

    1) Copy the missing dll file under Altiris\Deployment\BDC\bootwiz\oem\DS\winpe\x86\Base\Program Files\Symantec\Deployment folder

    2) Recreate the Preboot Configuration

    3) Boot the client machine in PXE & if it fails then add then

    4) Mount the boot.wim & add the missing dll file

    5) Commit the changes & unmount the image.

    I have the same problem with my upgrade from a working NS 7.1 server to 7.5 SP1 HF1.  The AeXPackageDelivery.dll is missing from both the x86 and x64 WinPE paths on the NS.

    So how do we get a copy of this file? Perhaps Symantec could create a KB and make it available or possibly included it in the HF1 for 7.5 SP1?
