After edit of backup options also the selection list has to be edited to save

Hello!

When i edit the Backup Options of an existing backup job, make some changes and then try to save this changes with the OK-Button Backup Exec told me that i need a valid selection, also if there is a valid selection. Then i have to go to edit the selection list (it's not necessary to change something), and than i can save it.

And it lasts very long (often more than 15 minutes) before i get the selection list.

BackupExec 2012 SP4 on Windows Server 2008 R2

I believe this can happen if you go to edit the settings in the right pane whilst the spinning status wheel is still trying to enumerate what selections are on the server in the left pane. When editing a job, always wait for the selection pane (left side) of job definition to be not showing a spinning wheel, but showing what is selected. Then make changes in the settings side of the job definition (the right pane)

Ok, yes, thats right. But the problem is also that this lasts very long (and show the spinning wheel). Often more than 15 minutes.

I added a logfile i captured with sgmon.exe. It's from the begin i clicked on the backup-job (and it shows the spinning wheel), until i see the selection in the left pane (and the spinning wheel stops). This lasts 15 minutes.

Hello!

We now found out that the problem was related to a not fully working Domaincontroller and DNS Server. This had no impact on our other systems, but only on Backup Exec, we don't know why. After the Domaincontroller was restarted the problem disappears. Maybe helpful to others.

Best regards!

Robert
