After installing application and device control of SEP, Windows cannot start
Created: 17 Feb 2012 | 9 comments
Hi
I am using SEP 11 MR6 MP3.
After installing Application and Device control feature of SEP without any policy applied windows cannot start and gives the following error and windows startup and it remains to show the following error and we cannot do anything:
"This Application has failed to start because %systemroot%\System32\Sysfer.dll was not found re-installing the appliacation may fix this problem"
Can you please help me to solve the issue?
Thanks

I think that there is a conflict or incompability issue between Protel and SEP.

Try to boot in safe mode
Try to boot in safe mode and repair the client. Application and Device control disables itself in safe mode. See Paul Murgatroyd's posting here: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/application-and-device-control-not-working-under-safe-mode
