    Posted Nov 20, 2012 03:56 AM

I installed the mobile device management 7.2 and installed successfully. But when i open the installation manager and click on the installed product. It showed that the product is not configured properly, it might because sql is not available.

But when perform the installation, it never prompt me to enter any info regarding mssql ( user name and password )

When I log in to the console, It does not show mobile device management at HOME

    anyone can help?

Did you already have a Symantec Management Platform installed?  If you did, it's not going to prompt you for SQL details since it's already installed.  If you prompted to use SQL Express, it's not going to prompt you either since it's using localhost.

You need to be logged on as a local administrator, preferably as the account used to originally configure Altiris (the "application identity").  Have you tried clicking the 'Reconfigure..' link in Symantec Installation Manager (SIM) or the 'Repair' link?

    Hi Mclemson,

Yes we have tried clicking "Reconfigure" yet the problem persists. The ID we use to install the application is the very same ID that is used for Altiris. The ID is symsa and is under the administrator Group.

And Yes there is already an existing Symantec Management Platform in placed prior to the installation of Symantec Mobile Management 7.2 MR1

The reason you aren't being prompted for SQL is that you're using an existing Symantec Management Platform.

I recommend uninstalling Symantec Mobile Management, then reinstalling it.  Your SMP version needs to be current before you install SMM.  You should be sure that not only are you using the app ID, but that it's also a local admin on the box, and that you're logging on locally or via session 0 (-console or -admin if using RDP).

    Hi Mclemson,

Our SMP is now at version 7.1 SP2 MP1 which I believe is the latest. Our SMM is 7.2 SP1. Do let me know if the versions are compatible to one another.

When you mentioned App ID must be on the local admin box, does that mean the ID has to be an administrator LOCAL Id and not a domain ID? I believe we are using a domain administrator ID to install these applications as this is a domain server.

Please do let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks.

You can use a domain administrator service account as the service account.

What errors do you see in the logs from the install?

The installation of SMM has been performed localy or remote?
    - what kind of remote session is in use?
