  • 1.  After installing SEP full addons (PTP & NTP) on servers DHCP is not working ?

    Posted May 11, 2016 06:17 PM

    People,

I've just installed SEP v12.1.6 MP4 in some of my servers, I've noticed that the DHCP is not working after that ?

Any idea how to prevent this issue happening ?

    Thanks.

Looking from Google. I can only find this broken link article:

Client computers are unable to receive addresses through DHCP after installing Symantec Endpoint Protection

This can happen if Symantec Endpoint Protection is installed with Network Threat Protection on a DHCP server. For information about configuring Network Threat Protection to allow DHCP traffic, see the Technical Support Knowledge Base article at the following URL:

On Server where DHCP service is running, you need to create for SEP client Firewall, specific rule:

In Firewall policy rules, add blank rule. Then in Service, enable DHCP Server. It will allow inbound and outbound traffic on 67 and 68 ports in both directions for any DHCP requests.

Activate this rule and assign to the Server SEP client.

On another note, do you have Smart DHCP enabled?

This would negate the need to create a firewall rule, see here:

    Smart DHCP ?

where is that option, is it on each of the clients or in the SEPM policy for the server only ?

In the firewall policy on the 'Built-in Rules' tab.

It's enabled by default in the policy.

OK,so if the "Smart DHCP" policy is enabled on the policy that is applied for the servers, I do not need to create the firewall rule on the SEPM server ?
