I have Win 2008 R2 Standard x64 server that will not update any of its plug-ins or agents from 7.1 to the latest version of 7.5 SP1. I have cloned updates to plug-ins and agents to target just that server and nothing is working.

Hi Mikeb90,

If everything is configured correctly try to set a Schedule Time in the Plug-in Upgrade Policy, and disable RunOnceASAP.

Hope this solves the problem

Check the logs, the agent logs into the same files as the NS AFAIK.

Looking in the logs of the local site server I found this error message several times

<event process="AtrsHost" source="unk" date="06/03/2014 09:27:22.1778822 +00:00" severity="1" thread="19" hostName="unknown" module="unknown" pid="777" >
<![CDATA[Unable to begin listening for data: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host
at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.BeginReceive(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size, SocketFlags socketFlags, AsyncCallback callback, Object state)
at Altiris.DotNetLib.Sockets.MessagingSocketSession.BeginDataListen()]]>

Can I bet that this maybe causing my issue? If it is how can I resolve it?

mikeb90,

The error from AtrsHost has nothing to do with the not working upograde. My bet is that the upgrade policy does not come to the agents.
Can you take policy XML file from some agent that is supposed to be upgraded and post it here?
The XML is located in "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Client Policies\"

Also please ZIP and post the agent install logs and operational logs from

C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Agent\InstallLogs
C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Agent\Logs

thanks!
