  • 1.  Agent Cache Long Directory Tree Installation of MSI failed to install

    Posted Jul 21, 2015 12:02 PM

    Hi All,

I have a deployment of a Vodafone Mobile Connect Software, and it has been supplied as an MSI with external files, spanning into deep directory structure which installs fine on a local system , but then it has been downloaded to our Agent Cache it failes to locate some files.

I've seen other comments about moving it on the package Server, but don't want to do that as it downloads from our PS's to the Client ok.

    My only options are :

1:  7Zip files in the package and extract locally through a script from the agent cache (htis will have added benefit of reducing the amout of transfer between sites)

2:  Just filecopy from the cache to C:\Temp or similar before installation?

    Any other suggestions welcomed.

    Thanks. Steve.

You can supply an alternate download location for your package sources. I had to do that with an early version of Creative Cloud as InDesign and InCopy had the same problem. I simply set the package to download to C:\Temp\CC to get it to work.

I should have mentioned, you can do that when adding the package to a Managed Software Delivery. Using the Advanced Options button, there will be an option to set the Location on Destination Computer.
