  • 1.  Agent client - Altiris problem

    Hi,

     

    I have a problem... In the Notification Servern when I uninstall the agent, the oracle works fine, but when the agent is installed it becomes unstable. 

     

    anyone know what the problem?

    Hi Luis,

    Are you installing NS on a server hosting an Oracle DB? I'm not sure I understand the problem.

    The Altiris Agent shouldn't have a direct impact on applications running on desktop or servers, but some tasks (like full inventory) can impact the system by using a large amount of CPU.

    Hi, Ludovic

    i'm wrong in my last explanation.

    My problem is:

    I have one site server with Task and Package Service and the agent have high level consumption of cpu in this server.

    I try reset the agent service and task service but not work

     

    The agent log not showing anything for this problem

    I try this article

    but not solved the problem

    On this server i have SEP agent and Oracle installed

    any idea?

    Hi Luis,

    In order to see which sub-agent or agent component is causing the CPU spike I would use Process Explroer from Sysinternals [1].

    It allows you to see in details which cpart (thread) of the agent are consuming the CPU cycles. Also the log files should help in this case.

    Here's a view of the tool checking the Altiris Agent threads running on my machine :

    This is a production environment, so it will take some time to be analyzed.

    We've seen these contribute to high CPU utilization at times.  Also, search the KB for high CPU issues:

    Finally, assuming this is the Site Server, and not a notification server itself, how many clients are connected to the site server?  Remember that we generally support about 5K clients per site server.  Generally.
