  • 1.  Agent Tray Icon is visible on some worktations

    I upgraded to CMS 7.1 SP2 in June.  I've noticed lately that some workstations have the agent tray icon showing when I have it set not to show.  It's not happening on all machines.  I have verified in my targeted agent settings that the box for showing the agent is unchecked.  I have also verified that one of the machines is part of the filter that is applied.

    1) Edit the registry - Find the key in the following location for the Altiris Agent. It should be similar to this (but may be a guid folder instead) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall \AltirisAgent

    You need to add a REGDWORD entry called SystemComponent and set the value to 1.

    2)You could just try redeploying the agent with the /noaddremoveprograms switch

    By default, most newer versions don't show up, but these are two possible ways around your issue.

    I have only seen this on Windows XP machines so far.

    Do you have more than one policy applying to these computers?  Last policy in will win.
