Agents available for Centos 6.3 and MYSql?

Created: 08 Mar 2013 | 2 comments

Hi, been looking around for answers, and it looks by the compatibility list for BE2012 that RHEL is supported, but does that include Centos?

I would be looking to install BE2012 on a windows server, and have Linux and MYSql agents installed on our Centos servers. Is this possible? If not what Symantec solution would work?

Hi,

There is no mention of CentOS in the BE 2012 SCL, and as such it is untested, and therefore unsupported.

You'd need the RALUS agent to backup any Linux-based server, and nothing for MySQL.

You can still trial this by loading up BE 2012 on a server and invoking the trial license for the RALUS agent before installing it on that Linux server, but you will be running an unsupported configuration.

Thanks!

I doubt that MySQL will ever ever be officially supported on any OS platform by Backup Exec. Symantec would have to start seeing significant numbers of requests for support and we don't get many currently.
